MetSC launches new nutrition toolkit for Canadians

We are excited to launch our new nutrition toolkit to help Canadians change their eating habits to prevent chronic diseases such as heart disease, stroke and diabetes through healthy eating and physical activity. One in every five Canadians has metabolic syndrome(MetS) which increases to 40% of Canadians with MetS over the age of 60.

The toolkit includes recipes, videos, tips, and fact sheets to help people make lifestyle changes based on the latest evidence and specific health goals. Click here to see the new resources.

Why was it created?

This NU-CHANGE toolkit (NUtrition Toolkit for CHANGE) was developed for the CHANGE Program (Canadian Health Advanced by Nutrition and Graded Exercise Program), a 12-month diet and exercise program created by Metabolic Syndrome Canada and available through family doctors’ clinics. Participants in the CHANGE Program are followed by their Family doctor, Registered Dietitian and an Exercise specialist for individualized assessment and counselling.

This toolkit was created by Metabolic Syndrome Canada in collaboration with experts in nutrition research and registered dietitians from the CHANGE Program with funding from Helderleigh Foundation. The Food Innovation and Research Studio (FIRSt), George Brown College in Toronto assisted with the created the recipes and videos.
