With the help of funding from Ontario Trillium Foundation, MetSC and participating family health teams have been making improvements to the physical activity levels of residents in the Halton-Peel region.
The number of Family Health Teams offering the CHANGE Program in Ontario continues to increase. With the help of funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, registered kinesiologists are working with the family health teams to improve the quantity and quality of physical activity of their patients and to encourage the adoption of healthy eating patterns to reduce the risk of chronic diseases.
CHANGE program kinesiologists Debbie Valadao, R. Kin (Halton-Peel area) and Derek Ditner, R. Kin (Brockton and Area Family Health Team) attended the Ontario Kinesiology Association’s professional development summit on May 4Cth 2019.
A total of 80 participants with metabolic syndrome from five family health teams in the Halton-Peel area have been enrolled in the CHANGE Program since spring 2018.
